A Few Words About This Site
This is an English walk through for the Japanese video game Anearth Fantasy Stories, also known as Seiya Monogatari. The game is available for both the PC Engine and Sega Saturn game systems. This walk through was originally written for the PC Engine version but since then I've played through the Saturn version and have added notes on some of the differences between the two versions.
This is one of my favorite RPGs on the PC Engine for a number of reasons. For one, the game is a bit different from many of the RPGs of the time in that it doesn't feature any random battles. In fact, the game is more about exploration and puzzle solving than fighting. When there are battles, the difficulty is never so hard that you feel you have to level up before fighting them. There are plenty of options during battle to keep things interesting as well. The ability to play though the game as one of four characters is pretty neat and is one of the reasons I've played though this RPG more than once. Another thing worth mentioning is the music in the game which still sounds good to me even though I've heard it many times now. Overall the game just has a feeling of quality to it. I still hope that somebody will find time to do a translation patch for it so I can fully understand the Fantasy Stories in this game.
I started this walk through many years back on my second time through the game but soon came to the conclusion that playing the game is a lot more fun than typing about it. At that time the game was expensive and hard to find so I figured not many people outside of Japan owned it anyway. Lately there has been some interest in the game again in the PC Engine community so I thought it was about time to dig out those old notes again for one more play through. Since I've prieviously been through the entire game with each character once, this makes my fifth time now and is most certainly my slowest due to all the typing involved in making this site.
The game is relatively easy to get through, but if you don't read any Japanese (such as myself) there are many places where it can be difficult to know what to do next. My goal here is to get you though as quickly and painlessly as possible but still experience the entire game.
Like I said, my Japanese knowledge is virtually nothing so I tend to make up a lot of names and such as I go along. However, I do try to get at least somewhat close and welcome any corrections or suggestions from any of you that want to help out. 01/20/13 Added pictures of Holy Robe, Staff of Gregory, and Water Staff thanks to runinruder.
06/24/08 Finally had the chance to play through the Sega Saturn version of this game so I'll be adding notes on the Saturn version in following updates. Added cast of characters and a world map to the Getting Started section. Many more updates coming soon!

12/21/07 Fixed a few things in the Menus/Battle section. Continuing work on a text only version of this walk through.
07/25/07 Finally! Added the Oltis City, Northern Island, Water Sanctuary, and Oltis Palace sections. Put up the Gear/Items page which has a picture and description of almost every item in the game. Updated the Holix/Magic page which now contains descriptions of all the magic spells in the game. Updated the menus on all the pages. Basically the whole walk through is now complete minus a few fixes and additions here and there. Let me know if there is anything else I need to add.
07/07/07 Added the Yeolgue and Rostarl (4th Visit) sections. Almost done with the Holix/Magic page and the Gear/Items page but am going to hold off putting them up until I fix a few things.
04/01/07 Added Contole Island section. Been making good progress on other pages as well.
01/21/07 Put up the Den Of Begolian and Fishing Village sections.
01/18/07 Added Menus, Battle and Holix pages. Yes I know there are a lot of dead links at this time. I promise I am working on updating the other pages as I get a chance. Next on the list is getting some more of the main walk through up.

01/07/07 Finished the Pirate Island section. Made a map of the city of Rostarl.
01/05/07 Added a note about a sword in Marah. Thanks for the reminder GUTS! Switched to bigger screen shots on all pages. Fixed a few broken links. Put up some more of the Pirate Island guide. Also added this update section to the site. ^_^
